I got a fetish… Pat McGrath’s Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Foundation

I’m a first-timer when it comes to trying Pat McGrath. I was very excited when I found out that I would be recieving their product complimentary for testing and promotional purposes, as I heard such positive things about this brand and finally had the opportunity to see what all the hype is about for myself. I’ll start off by saying while this product was different from my expectations, it did not disappoint.

This foundation is described as “a long-wearing, customizable foundation that builds from sheer to medium coverage in a wide range of universal hues that manifest the ultimate sublime skin standard” on Sephora’s website. It is also worth noting that this product is free from animal testing, parabens, fragrance, talc, or oil. This foundation comes in 36 universal colour choices and five shade levels custom-curated for all skin types, tones and undertones.

This product features:

-Diamond Core Powder Technology which “enhances skin’s texture, and helps smooth and blur the appearance of fine lines, pores, and imperfections”,
– Unique Polymers which “provide lasting wear, ultimate smoothness, and a luminous finish”
– High-Purity Pigments Treated with Amino Acid which “deliver enhanced wear, a creamy feel, and controlled and easily buildable coverage” -Vita-Serum Complex which “moisturizes and helps fight the appearance of wrinkles”

The first thing that I noticed about this product was it’s high quality, luxurious packaging. The presentation came across as glamorous and not one bit tacky, like some brand’s packaging seems to be. The foundation bottle is glass and comes with a pump, which I like as it helps me control how much foundation I am getting out of the bottle at a time.

However, glamorous packaging means nothing if the product inside doesn’t live up to how lavish it is presented.

This foundation felt lush, silky, and weightless on my skin. It also was not cakey at all, which is a plus. A pro tip is to use your fingers if you want a more sheer finish and a brush if you want a more full coverage look. I like how this foundation is more customizable than others I have used. I am prone to dry skin and I do not have a lot of break-outs or severe acne.

I applied this foundation just how I apply every other foundation I wear. I started off with a primer – Pat McGrath sells “Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Primer” to pair with this foundation for $60, but I just used my Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer ($42) that I have been using recently. I chose to apply it with my Beautyblender Pro ($20). While Pat McGrath has setting powder that retails for $55, I used my own. Pat McGrath does have face brushes as part of this collection that range from $25-58. Pat McGrath offers 2 kits with this collection. The first Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection The System retails for $150 and includes her primer, foundation, and powder. The Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection The System Everything Kit retails for $250 includes all 3 of these, plus 2 brushes for foundation & powder. You save $33 with the first and $46 with the second by buying all of the products together in a kit. My results may have possibly came out differently if I used Pat McGrath’s products along with the foundation, but this is what I had!

This product retails for $68, but I believe it can be worth the splurge to you if you want a really good, luxurious foundation, if you are a loyal Pat McGrath fan, or avid makeup collector.

Would I pay $68 for a foundation? I never have paid that much before, but if I really liked it after trying it out I honestly might.

Since this foundation is definitely a pricer one, I searched high and low to find any promo codes for any of my readers who may want to get this foundation! If you sign up for emails on Pat McGrath’s website, you get 10% off (making it $61.20 + any applicable taxes, Pat McGrath offers free domestic shipping on this product). Also, up until August 27th, Sephora is offering 15% off to VIB status members (making it $57.80 + taxes) and 20% off to Rouge shoppers (making it $54.40 + taxes) with code “summersave”. Sephora offers free shipping on any $50+ order, so this would quality!

I received this product complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster. Influenster is a program that sends influencers complimentary products in exchange for honest reviews and anyone can sign up for it (I highly recommend doing so, it’s an awesome way to find new brands and products – plus who doesn’t love free stuff)! I was not financially compensated for this post; however, I am creating this post as part of a contest.
