Spring Break 2019: What I Wore, Ate, and Did on My trip to Mexico

I went to Mexico for spring break this year and was really looking forward to relax before finals since this semester was so stressful. Sophomore year I did not go anywhere but I did go to Florida Freshman year with my friend Sarah. I stayed at the Catalonia Riviera Maya Resort & Spa, which is located “directly on the beach of the beautiful Mexican Caribbean and in the heart of the Mayan Riviera.” I arrived in Mexico Friday, April 20th and arrived back home in New York (I actually flew into Newark in New Jersey) Saturday, April 27th. I was in Mexico for Catholic Easter, but since my immediate family is Greek Orthodox we celebrate a week after, so I did not miss it! Below are some photos of the hotel, our room & the view from our balcony. My favorite part of our hotel room was that it had a rainfall shower.

All food & drinks were all inclusive, I definitely overate but it was really convenient to get whatever food whenever I wanted. There were buffets for quick, convenient meals as well as sit-down restaurants.

I would usually start my day off by getting ready and eating breakfast, going to tan by the ocean or the pool (the best pool were the two that had the swim-up bars), swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, scuba diving, going on the boat, or other activities around the resort. At night, there were fireworks, live shows, and a club to go to.

Easter Sunday Outfit

Dress: Forever 21 Floral Wrap Maxi Dress for $19.90 *Exact but in different floral print

Shoes: Steve Madden Indyanna White Platform Wedge Sandals via Lulu’s for $79 *Exact

Bag: I got it last year from Dor L’ Dor NYC, but since they no longer have it I found this one that is almost exactly the same from Ebay

Top: ASOS DESIGN crop top with tie halter in black for $6 *Similar in black

Pants: American Eagle Outfitters Lace Flare Festival Pants in Rust via Poshmark for $29 *Exact

Same bag & shoes as previously linked!

Cover-up: Forever21 *I could not find the exact one, which is odd as I purchased this in Soho right before my trip!

Swim

All swim is either from VS Pink or Victoria’s Secret! These pieces are a few years old, so I can no longer find them on the website.

Tulum Ruins

Swimsuit: Victoria’s Secret Double Back Strap One-piece for $72 *Exact

I chose to wear a one piece for the day of activities as I felt more secure in it.

Sunglasses: Ray Ban Aviator Flash Lenses for $178 *Exact

The sun was SO strong, it hurt my eyes sometimes, which is why I am glad that I brought protective sunglasses rather than cheap, fashionable ones

Shorts: Francesca’s (I can not find this exact pair or anything remotely similar, they are from last year)

Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Low Top for $50 *Exact

On our last full day in Mexico, we left the resort with a Tour Guide and visited the Tulum Ruins, went snorkeling in a cave and with turtles and stingrays (I wasn’t able to get photos of the last 2 activities on the Tour because I was swimming in water).

My trip to Mexico was a lot of fun, I got to experience new things and I learned a lot about different cultures. I was trying to enjoy my time there rather than be on my phone and there were a lot of times where I was doing an activity that I couldn’t bring my phone on (I should have brought my go-pro along but I forgot it), but I did try to document as much as I could! I can not wait to travel more hopefully soon. Comment what place I should check out next!
